Dr. Kelly Carney was born in New York and raised in both North Carolina and Rhode Island. She graduated from Providence College and went to the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, where she met her husband, a family physician. She completed her pediatrics residency at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, followed by a fellowship in the division of neonatology at Duke University, training to care for special needs infants. Dr. Carney joined Cornerstone Pediatrics in 2023 after practicing in primary care, inpatient, and emergency room settings in North Carolina and overseas.
She enjoys all aspects of primary care pediatrics, but some of her favorite areas are newborn medicine and dermatology. Building long-term relationships with patients and their families is one of the most rewarding parts of her job. Dr. Carney lives in Apex with her husband and four daughters. She is an avid cyclist and Tar Heel fan who enjoys travel, plant-based cooking, and spending time with family.
